Much excitement has been rumbling around our home this week. Early rising, strange dreams, and much happiness at the idea of seeing our family. Mingled in with that has been thoughts of friends leaving Strasbourg, and how blessed we have been in the last few months to have them in our lives.
We’ve spent time psyching la Petite Monstre up for the long flights- our trip over to France last July was disastrous, with screaming sessions, and a fear of on-board toilets.
This afternoon, however, has been very inspiring; inspiring to see how much my babies have grown up. I gave each girl a back-pack to carry with their own blankie and dou-dou. They wore them with pride. The scanning machine at the security check beeped, and each child held out their arms and allowed the lady to run that goodie-ma-jiggie thingie over them. They almost did it with pride.
When we sat for dinner at the airport, they happily coloured in the menus thet were given, and sat quietly minding their own business.
We gave them their own boarding passes at the boarding gate, and they handed over their passes with such charm and confidence.
Movies were set up, they calmly sipped their apple juice, and when their meal arrived, Beth tucked into the chocolate mousse, and savoury biscuits. Having eaten earlier, I didn’t force her to eat more. Alex ate a fair bit of broccolli, carrots, rice and chicken, and I have to say to SAA, their childrens’ menu was very suitable. Well done.
Very quickly, Beth turned to Anton, and announced she was ready to sleep. The child turned on to her side, pillows under her head, and collapsed.
What an immense difference to last July. My babies have grown up, and I am so proud of them. Chocolate mousses, settling themselves to sleep, trying to read the signage everywhere? Wow. You girls are amazing.
I have 6 hours to see if I can catch some sleep. My throat is beginning to dry out- one of the many crappy cons to travel. If I sleep, maybe it won’t be so bad. Also, my movie is coming to it’s very sad end. If I concentrate on it, I will be reminded of how many wonderful blessings I have in my life.
Because I do.
Hoping to find a little wifi connection soon to post this,
